Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani

The Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani is the mausoleum of Mariam-uz-Zamani, the Hindu consort of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. The tomb was built by Jahangir, in memory of his mother Mariam-uz-Zamani. The tomb is located in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra.

History 

Her Kunwari was born a Rajput blue blood and was conjointly the eldest female offspring of Raja Bharmal of Amer. She was married to Emperor Akbar in 1562 Ce.She was worthy with the title Mariam-uz-Zamani ("Mary of the Age") once she gave birth to Jahangir. She died in metropolis in 1623 and her son Jahangir engineered a spot for her in between 1623 and 1627 Ce.The spot is simply a metric linear unit far away from the spot of Akbar the good, that was engineered as per her want, the sole nearest of all the tombs of his alternative wives

Architecture 

The structure was originally Associate in Nursing open baradari (pleasure pavilion) underneath Sikander Lodi, UN agency designed it in 1495 AD. it had been adopted by the Mughals in 1623 AD and was reborn into a grave by creating a sepulcher below the central compartment and remodelling it well.

The burial chamber contains 3 tombstones: one within the underground mortuary chamber, that is, that the grave itself; the monument higher than it; and another monument on the terrace. 

The ground floor consists of some forty chambers designed by Sikander Lodi, that bears faint traces of paintings on plastered walls. The center of the bottom floor homes the monument of Mariam.

This sq. grave stands within the center of the Mughal garden. It's designed on a raised platform with stairs on its northern and southern sides. The 2 corridors running from east to west and from north to south divide the structure into 9 sections that or any divided into smaller compartments. the biggest one is at thecenter, four smaller sq. ones at the corners and 4 rectangular ones in their middle. Large piers are accustomed support the broad arches and domed ceilings. The grave is constructed of brick and mortar, and finished with stucco.
